Enjoy All Types of Performance Art at Open Mic Mondays
If you’re looking for a way to engage with fellow artists in your community, look no further than Open Mic Mondays at the Creative Suitland Arts Center. Creative Suitland and DC Music Summit join forces to host this monthly open mic night where artists of all backgrounds come together to share their own art and appreciate that of others.
The next installment of Open Mic Mondays is coming to the arts center on Monday, September 26th from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is pay-what-you-can starting at $5. Get there early if you want to perform—you have to sign up on the spot, and the list does fill up quickly. Once you snag a position on the evening’s roster, start warming up for your five minutes of fame. DMV-area creator Pi-Anir the Poet will host the event alongside DJ Art.is, who lays down the beats, and Terry’s Taste, who provides the food. Music, poetry, and spoken word will all be on the itinerary at Open Mic Mondays. Note that any performers using negative language to describe their fellow human beings will be asked to leave and prohibited from attending future open mic nights.
